Gov. Noem says Democrat promotion of CRT is “all about power”
UPDATED 1:25 PM PT – Tuesday, July 20, 2021
South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem (R) said Democrats have been promoting critical race theory in order to gain more control over Americans’ lives. In a recent interview, Noem accused the left of using CRT to gain power and jurisdiction.
Noem added this was not what the founding fathers had in mind when they fought for freedom. She said Americans should be focused on the life lessons learned through history instead of the “negativity of the Marxist theories that are coming out of so many of these leaders today.”
On July 4, 1776, our Founding Fathers signed a transformational document full of beautiful principles that would come to define our nation. In South Dakota, we’re working to protect those principles, including the unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. pic.twitter.com/31uu0dh6Ax

The Republican governor praised the parents who have stood against such an ideology being blindly taught to their children and said it was important for them to remain involved.
“We need to remember that by the time a child gets into the K-12 public school system, that teacher is spending more time with those children then their parents are,” she expressed. “Who they are around and who they are surrounding themselves with that are speaking into their lives has an impact on what they believe.”
Noem went on to say she is concerned with the direction of the country under the Biden administration.
