Four Michigan residents are the lucky winners of a lottery prize worth more than $1 billion. The winners are members of a four-person lottery club called “Wolverine FLL Club” in Detroit.
Their lawyer collected the check on their behalf and said the winners are humbled by the prize money.
He added that they plan to help other local charities in their community, such as local food banks, and provide education opportunities.
“This is not just generational money, this is multi-generational,” attorney Kurt Panouses stated. “Education is important to them, obviously they want to do some scholarships as well, and they want to see this money actually help other people, just like it helped them.”
Reports said the group plans on taking the one-time lump sum of $776 million, rather than the total payout over a course of years.
